Investigation of the Occurrence of Progressive Collapse in High-Rise Steel Buildings with Different Braced Configurations

The progressive collapse phenomenon refers to a chain of damages in structure where all or large part the is destroyed by an initial local it, which can lead very disastrous results. Therefore, prevention has become necessary action design and analysis buildings it vital investigate this topic more accurately. This study aims present proposed pattern configuration braces at height high-rise steel building for reducing probability collapse. In regard, vertical displacement 18-story with four scenarios column removal five concentric bracing patterns including V, Inverted X, discontinuous X-bracing height, combination Xbracing side spans middle are investigated compared. study, Alternative Path Method (APM) used based on GSA guideline results research showed that use nonlinear static dynamic analyses performed better than other configurations. Finally, recommended would place bracings one direction providing alternative paths force transferring structure.
